ShareThe upper Valley of the Potenza

It starts from the beautiful Matelica ... Matelica is a town rich in history, the evidence dates back to the prehistoric period. The signs left by history can be found in the monuments preserved within the town walls. Among the many monuments we remember a large number of churches such as: the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta with the bell tower, in the heart of the city, seat of the diocese of Fabriano-Matelica. With our bike itinerary we will pass through a series of country roads that will lead us to visit beautiful places and villages that have stood still in time. Here the peasant traditions and the hard work of the land have left a beautiful indelible mark on the conformation of the landscape as if it were a brushstroke of the most important impressionist painters in history. The continuous ups and downs can only cheer our march, on our march we meet the Lancino Castle, a visit destination, we continue until we meet the climb that leads us into the historic center of Pioraco, a small village that rises on the course of the Power River. In Pioraco, water is the essential element! Pioraco is the land of paper and water. Rivers and streams cross the village creating a gorge and make the landscape even more fascinating. The Pioraco gorge has several points of interest, one of these is certainly the Li Vurgacci path. Here the waters of the Potenza river cross Pioraco creating, as if by magic in years and years of erosion, a series of waterfalls, whirlpools, pits and gorges and it is here that the "Li Vurgacci" Path begins. A visit to the Paper Museum is also recommended. Continue along the beautiful cycle path that runs along the Potenza River until you reach Fiuminata and take the valley road between Monte Gemmo and Monte Corsegno which will lead us back to Matelica after cycling in an area of safe environmental value.
