A stage between coast and river, silent nature and rolling hills, until it reaches the sea and the soft light of a sunset on the beach. A journey that smells of saltiness and earth.
The road starts again, with the unmistakable profile of the Conero behind you, with the morning light slipping over the sea. The route follows the coast, skirting Falconara Marittima and heading inland.
It follows the Esino river along green banks, cycle paths and dirt tracks, crossing river landscapes and the Ripa Bianca Nature Reserve. We then climb gently towards Monsano, a small hilltop village where time seems to slow down. It is not only an oasis of tranquillity: in 2018 it was declared the best European municipality under 10,000 inhabitants for its environmental policies. From here, amid sunflowers and undulating roads, it is back to the sea and the small triumph of arriving in Senigallia. The Rotonda a Mare overlooks the famous Velvet Beach, the wheels glide lightly along the seafront, and the centre welcomes you with elegant squares and the scents of Marche cuisine. The day ends with the light fading, and the desire to continue the journey.
